It's easier said than done, but all ideas start somewhere. There is enough online with open source hardware and software today that having access to all this information really provides a lot of opportunities for someone to learn and explore. There will be problem solving along the way, but you can use your fellowship to gain your skill building overall. One of the best positive feedback loops is sharing what you have done with others!
